The FS/QA Supervisor manages all activities of second shift QA and FS Department in a manner which ensures consistent food safety and product quality of all products produced. Be a proactive participant in identifying potential issues in all phases of
operations. Work with other members of the management team to develop and follow a plan of action that eliminates the identified issues. Ensure a smooth working relationship between QA, FS, other departments and USDA. This position is for Second Shift.
Develop, document, and implement programs and procedures to ensure that customer, company, and regulatory specifications are met. Communicate to and train all associates (i.e. QA, FS, Production, Maintenance, etc.) prior to implementation. Ensure that
the QA/FS department is properly organized, staffed, and trained to meet and achieve these requirements.
Conduct and document audits of the facility monthly in the following areas: Product Specifications, customer requirements, GMP’s, Pest Control, Foreign Material Control programs, SSOP/HACCP, and general facility condition. Provide copies to Managers of
each functional area requesting corrective actions/preventative measures for deficiencies in their area. Assure that all claim programs; organic, PVP, Gluten free are in compliance on second shift.
Develop and maintain lines of communication between QA Techs and Production Supervisors and management to ensure that all are kept informed of issues found, corrective actions taken, and any changes to programs and procedures.
Hands on involvement in all Food Safety/Quality problems that arise during the shift and developing appropriate solutions and corrective actions/preventative measures for those issues.
Maintain a positive working relationship with USDA and respond to their concerns in a timely manner to any issues/concerns that they may communicate to you. Keep all of the Shift Managers and Supervisors (first, second, & third shift) aware of USDA concerns
and corrective actions on shift.
Complete yearly appraisals of QA/FS Techs on B shift; assist with providing training to second shift associates on GMP’s, SSOP/HACCP, and Food Safety as needed.
Assure that second shift sensory line release and product evaluation program is conducted as required and any issues with product compliance to specifications are addressed as needed.
Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Poultry Science, Operations Management or related field and 2-3 years or commensurate experience. HACCP Certification, knowledge of USDA Regulations including GMP/SSOP/HACCP and Labeling.
Must have experience with Food Safety/QA style audits. Be familiar with HACCP/SSOP and USDA requirements to include monitoring and implementing validation processes. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multitask while maintaining
required timelines. Knowledge/experience with Microsoft computer software.
PREFERRED: Experience in further processing and cooking of poultry. Experience in a supervisory role.
