This position will be responsible for evaluating the content and implementation of QA and Food Safety programs created to meet FDA and customer requirements. The position will utilize a structured QA audit process to conduct the evaluations. In addition,
the position will assist with providing accurate responses to customer requests for information.
Develop and implement a structured QA audit process that incorporates practices noted in ASQ/ANSI/ISO 19011, where practical.
Use a structured audit program to evaluate the content and implementation of programs written to fulfill FDA FSMA rules and customer requirements for product quality specifications and food safety parameters.
Systems to be audited include – Preventive Controls Programs for Human and Animal Foods, Foreign Supplier Verification, Sanitary Transport, cGMPs, and Identity Preservation.
Process audits include - FDA Food Facility Registration, Pest Control, Labeling, Product Recall / Traceability, FGIS sampling and grading of grains, laboratory management and analytical procedures. Other audits may be conducted at the request of Business
Unit Managers or QA Director.
Communicates and coordinates the audit process with operational and commercial management. Ensures the audit process and expectations are known prior to conducting the audit.
Maintains audit records through use of a designated software solution; e.g., RCI or SharePoint.
Grow the audit process beyond compliance and conformance; i.e., facilitate continuous improvement and provide value-added assessments (examples – risk identification, quality costing).
Assists with the completion of Customer Requests for Information (CRFI) to ensure responses given to customers accurately reflect practices.
Conducts training and correlations as determined by QA Director.
3 or more years industry experience managing food/feed safety and quality systems.
Completion of Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree in Food/Feed Science, Animal Science, Ag Economics or an Agribusiness related major.
Must consistently demonstrate Perdue Farms’ Values, practice excellent communication skills, and maintain confidentiality.
Must be proficient in general computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP).
Must be trained in HACCP, FSMA Preventive Controls Qualified Individual or FSVP QI or obtain qualifications within first year of employment.
Must be a qualified internal auditor or obtain qualification within the first year of employment.
Proficient in technical writing, reading and interpreting scientific journals or publications.
Proficient in agribusiness regulations and programs.
Have basic knowledge of grain, soy crush and feed processing operations, specifically HACCP Plan management, quality programs and statistical process control.
Available for frequent travel; qualified to drive a company vehicle.
