Description/Job Summary

Niman Ranch
Looking for an energetic self-starter who works well with a small team, collaborates across close-knit company with little supervision. Candidate should be comfortable and effective with cross functional activities The communications manager will have a solid understanding of public relations and communications, with seasoned skills to elevate the company’s visibility, strong reputation and leadership with animal care and all regenerative efforts. Brand awareness will be a key driver. The individual should be well versed with crafting and pitching demos, local news, national initiatives, thought leadership pieces and farmer/rancher, chef and partner stories. Candidate is able to create and maintain connections with key trade reporters, publications, magazine editors and general press – supporting a proactive and reactive media strategy. This person will work closely with senior team, sales and marketing, external customers, thought leaders and partners and be an organized resource for all external communications.

The Position • Crafting a strategic thought leadership calendar • Writing press releases, media plans, compelling stories and news hooks • Pitching and securing news with industry trades and top media outlets • Collaborating to plan and execute speaking opportunities for senior team, partners, chefs and farmers • Partnering in the development of specific digital and social strategy • Research and data management for news and media analysis • Managing several projects at once •

Position Requirements:
  • 5-7 Years of Experience in Public Relations
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Business, or other related field
  • Prior Spokesperson Experience
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to create compelling presentations and talking points
  • Presentation skills with ability to coach
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Agency experience a plus
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to function in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment with a calm sense of urgency, patience and fortitude.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to edit personal work and that of others.
  • Experience supporting and working with teams in multiple work locations.
  • Meat industry experience a plus
  • Experience building brands within the food industry
  • Willingness to travel (25% travel)
Job Duties:
  • Strategic Media, Event and Thought Leadership Calendar (to include speaking opportunities, panels, etc.)
    • Utilizing and creating value added opportunities in conjunction to participation (e.g. meetings, partnership dinners, product tastings, etc.)
    • Editorial Calendar for Media Outreach, Opinion pieces, features and article placements.
  • Creative planning for products in addition to seasonal and other news hooks.
  • Award Submissions, Category features and Leadership Submissions.
  • Day to day media management, reports, communications and planning.
  • Writing: Press Releases, Speeches and Presentations, Advisories, Articles, Award Submissions, Blogs, Event materials, and other requests from internal and external clients.
  • News resource, clip management, video editing and ownership of media library and online files.
