Description/Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic B maintains, diagnoses, repairs, rebuilds, adjusts, performs preventive maintenance, and installs equipment within and around the hatchery facility.



  1. Responsible to move throughout the facility, reach vertical heights up to 150’ to perform repairs, PM’s, and monitor equipment in both Open and confined spaces. 
  2. Use of vehicle to transfer selves, tools and equipment to perform and met the mechanical knowledge, skills and abilities of a “B” Mechanic. 
  3. Performs preventive maintenance as assigned which includes but is not limited to fabrication, rebuilding of machinery, gearboxes, pumps, etc. 
  4. Respond to emergency breakdowns during both on and off duty hours to ensure operations continue on a 24 hours a day basis. 
  5. Generates and submits paperwork relative to work locations such a work orders, time cards, job cards, and any related to meetings, safety, etc. 
  6. Perform all equipment repairs and daily work within OSHA regulations, lockout/tag-out, and Perdue safety book guidelines.

Required Experience

Strong reading, math writing and comprehensive skills are required.  Must have vocationa/technical scool completion or equivalent training.  Three or more years of practical experience is required.  

Required Education

A High School Diploma or GED is preferred. Must have vocationa/technical scool completion or equivalent training.
