The purpose of a Mechanic “B” is to diagnose, repair, install, maintain, and adjust plant eviscerating and processing machines, setup machines for operation, and to maintain all equipment in assigned area to keep the plant in operation.
Must have knowledge of and to perform all the task required for a Class “C” Mechanic-Evisceration and know all the machines in the Evisceration Department.
Change hydraulic pumps, filt4rs, hoses, and prime the pumps and set to proper pressure.
Knowledge to troubleshoot eviscerated operation valves and make necessary repairs. Be able to weld ferrous metals, nonferrous metals, and rebuild all machines.
Know the chlorine system that supplies the chlorine to the various machines in the Evisceration Department. Know all the high pump systems in evisceration.
Be knowledgeable and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and policies.
Know and comply with the Quality Improvement Process, safety rules and procedures, and working together as a Team Member.
Wear and/or use all safety equipment required for the job. Job requirement may dictate earlier or later starting and quitting times.
At least 18 years of age.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Strong work history, worked for one employer for at least 1 year in the past three years.
Good reading, math, and analytical skills required.
Courses at a Community College of Self Development in mechanical filed are preferred.
3 years prior/related experience is required.
Must have the ability to move throughout the plant and grounds for 8 hours on wet, moist, dry, and greasy floors which includes metal or plastic grating surfaces with up to 4 hours in a single interval.
Be able to climb stairs and ladders.
Must obtain certified forklift and jack license within 30 days of employment.
Have general knowledge of equipment and adjustments and assist in repairing and adjusting machines.
Bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, and grasping varies in repetitions, distance, degrees, angle, weight, heights, intervals of time, objects grasped, and body positions depending upon the task being performed.
Be able to work around chlorinated water (50ppm), ammonia vapors (5ppm), dry ice, caustic detergents, lubricating oils, hydraulic oils, salt and other chemicals found in a poultry processing plant.
Must use and/or wear protective and safety equipment required for the job.
