Description/Job Summary

Perdue AgriBusiness has an opening for a Rail Commodity Movement Planning Manager in Salisbury, MD.

This position will be responsible for managing and allocating rail fleet resources to meet supply and demand operations internally as well as externally.  Responsible for train as well as single car movement coordination among all business units. 


  • Coordinate forward logistics rail plan for all business units, maximizing utilization of railcars, maintaining customer delivery expectations as well as meeting our internal needs
  • Daily tasks of issuing billing instructions for all business units, monitoring railcar movements, requesting rail rates and advising Commodity Movement Planners on any delays, problems, etc. that may impact their logistics plan
  • Responsible for researching, correcting or challenging all rail freight costing discrepancies
  • Identify opportunities for the Inventory Management team to pursue and triage, especially related to demurrage & accessorial charges
  • Manage the testing and implementation of new plans/protocols across PAB’s inventory strategy
  • Address forward looking opportunities pertinent to rail
  • Prepare ad hoc reports as requested
  • Perform other tasks as directed by supervisor

Required Experience

  • 3 – 5 years

Required Education

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • BS Degree (AgriBusiness, Business or Transportation) preferred

Required Qualifications

  • Understanding of sales and marketing concepts
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Understanding of standard software applications
  • Knowledge of grain handling and storage facility operations and technologies
  • Knowledge of USDA grain standards
  • Knowledge of rail, truck, barge and vessel logistics
