Further Processing 1st Shift. 5:45am-2:45pm.
The purpose of a Mechanic “B” is to know the operation of processing machines, set up machines for operation, make proper adjustments, and to maintain all equipment in assigned area to keep the plant operational.
Must have knowledge of and perform all tasks required for a Class “C” Mechanic.
Learn and make proper adjustments of machines while in operation in a safe manner following safety procedures.
Change hydraulic pumps, filters, and prime the pumps and set to proper pressure.
Have the ability and knowledge to troubleshoot processors operational valves and make necessary repairs.
Learn to identify machine parts, parts needed for repair or replacement, and read/use parts manual. Ability to read and view film specification sheet to identify print on film for errors or problems.
Know how to make and perform set up changes on machines form one tray size to another when instructed.
Know and comply with safety rules and procedures.
Wear and/or use all safety equipment required for the job.
Job requirements may dictate earlier or later starting and quitting times.
At least 18 years of age.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Strong work history, worked for one employer for at least 1 year in the past three years.
Good reading, math, and analytical skills required.
Courses at a Community College of Self Development in mechanical filed is preferred.
3 years prior/related experience is required.
Must have the ability to move throughout the plant and grounds for 8 hours on a wet, moist, dry, and greasy floor which includes metal or plastic grating surfaces with up to 4 hours in a single interval.
Be able to climb stairs and ladders.
Be able to work in temperatures less than 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, and grasping varies in repetitions, distance, degrees, angle, weight, heights, intervals of time, objects grasped, and body positions depending upon the task being performed.
Be able to work around chlorinated water (50ppm), ammonia vapors (5ppm), dry ice, caustic detergents, lubricating oils, hydraulic oils, salt and other chemicals found in a poultry processing plant.
Must use and/or wear protective and safety equipment required for the job.
