Description/Job Summary

The company is seeking a part time LPN or MA to assess medical needs of associates & provide first aid or referral as necessary; maintain federal, state & company recordkeeping for OSHA and workers’ compensation;  review medical history & complete physical assessment sheet,  & other required forms;  assist with medical cost management;  complete other tasks as needed in compliance with company policies. This position is an on call as needed position only.


1.  Administer medical care for work related or non-work related illnesses, following appropriate algorithm, or medical directives or accepted nursing standards:  refer cases to physicians as needed.  Document information.  Enter data in OHM (Occupational Health Management.)  Inform nursing supervisor as appropriate.

2.  Perform physicals after reviewing history information with associate; collect specimens for drug screens & complete information on physical forms or in OHM as appropriate.  Conduct TB testing or Symptom Screening as appropriate.  Complete termination files and send to Corporate Record Retention.

3.  Support function of wellness center or medical department that is consistent with company policies, to include injury &/or illness assessment, physician appointments (at Wellness Centers), ordering supplies, etc.  Direct associates to Sedgwick Case Management Services  as appropriate For requests for STD or FMLA.

4.  Enroll associates in HIP; coach individuals to improved health status with support of HealthWorks HIP team.

5.  Support goals of on site management team by partnering with HR, Safety and Operations Management.

Required Skills

Current, active and unrestricted license for professional nursing in the state of practice. Certification in CPR required within 6 months of employment. Good verbal & written communication skills.

Preferred Experience

3-5 years experience


Must be able to see, touch, smell and record findings in writing.  Be able to respond to all areas of the complex as needed.  Although the majority of work is done in an office/clinic environment, there is also exposure to variable inter-facility and external environmental conditions, such as:  noise levels, changes in temperature, humidity, etc.  Must have ability to move throughout the processing plant and surrounding environments of the off-site facilities, such as feedmills, hatcheries, etc.  Must wear PPE as required.
